Shout out to all our DreamScape Friends!

We have been a little quiet lately due to some unforseen RL stuff but, Venus and I would like to thank all our DreamScape I & II Island residents for making our islands special. It is a pleasure to be able to serve you all and we hope that you are well and happy. Cheers!

P.S. - also like to thank resident interior decorator for her interesting photo contributions to our home and for redecorating for us in our absence (see above).

Zombie Sightings on DreamScape!

WARNING to all DreamScape Island residents:

There have been recent reports of a zombie sightings in one or more homes around the island. It appears that this zombie is especially attracted to women who meet the following in-world characteristics:

  • Living alone for a long period of time (e.g. Spinsters, Old maids, Hags, etc.)
  • Have a extraordinary fear of all types of zombies (including animal zombies like undead pigs, rats, parrots, lizards, etc.)
  • Personality types that are driven to buy numerous homes or land for no apparent reason.

Please report any sightings of zombies to Venus or myself as soon as possible. Thank you!

For your saftey, should you encounter one of these zombies, we have included a helpful “Hot to kill a zombie” top-10 list:

10. Throw records
Doesn’t really kill zombies, but it’s one hell of a way to clean up a bad record collection.

9. Chainsaw
The chainsaw can cut through even the thickest skull and will destroy a brain in seconds.

8. Toaster
When swung by the cord, one can get incredible velocity; also makes toast.

7. Hammer
Another popular tool. Good for the strong and weak alike, and perfect for the novice zombie killer.

6. Fire poker
Heavy, well sized, and very versatile, serving the stab-happy and blunt-crazy zombie killer alike.

5. Pump-action shotgun
Most movie characters are terrible with the shotgun, but it’ll always be a popular choice.

4. The Old Door Trick
When zombies try to come in, slam the door on its head.

3. Rocket Launcher
Legend has it a U.S. college student wrote an essay called, “The Best Way to Kill a Zombie is with a Rocket Launcher.” Who could argue with that?

2. “The View”
To kill a zombie, you must destroy its brain, and what better way to do that than listening to Starr Jones and Meredith Viera?

1. Motorcycle
Go Milla Jovovich! Her scene riding her bike down the aisle of a church in RE:2 was amazing. A must in any zombie invasion.

{many thanks to the source of this list}

With the 7Seas Fishing Game you never know what you will catch, and what a whopper I saw this week! Ok, I agree this could have come with some Brazilian Nuts for a little more taste, but you have to admit, its cute even without a little bikini whacks! Indigo Perway, you are a true man!

Did Jen Shikami have this in mind when she designed the catch of the day in the 7Seas Fishing Game?

Gwyneth Llewellyn, is respectfully demanding a clarification/ of the policy as regards bloggers and others and she won’t step down. I support Gwyn’s efforts and I hope you take the time to read the newest from the Lindens and her take on what is going on!

Recent developments

Possibly advised by their legal advisers, Linden announced on their blog, that they would start as of now to aggressively discourage the usage of all Linden-related registered trademarks, thus effectively reverting its four-year old policy of co-promotion through marketing crowd sourcing. The major issue with the current population of Second Life® users is that dozens of thousands of products and services were created within compliance with the old guidelines, and there is no provision made by Linden to “grandfather” existing services now currently in existence. Almost all have no legal protection that will allow them to contest any of Linden’s claims in court to shut their services down if they receive Linden’s Cease & Desist letters. Linden’s claim to their trademarks is, naturally, factually correct, unambiguous, and entirely within Linden’s rights.

There is, however, one aspect of Linden’s claims where we feel the Guidelines are overshooting the legitimate intent of Linden Research in preserving their trademarked brands and preventing their dilution. We refer to the section “Proper Reference to Linden Lab’s Brand Names in Text“, which basically outlines how any mention of terms trademarked by Linden has to be written any text published. Among other things, it claims to make sure the brand names are only ever used with an “appropriate generic noun” of which Linden provides a list, and that “as often as possible”, down to capitalization, spelling, elisions and contractions. In effect, this precludes any usage of trademarked terms in text in most of the forms current nowadays, and dictates to commentators, bloggers and critics how and what to write when referring to trademarked terms…”
