DreamScape I & II

For those of you who do not keep up with the happenings our our dear Linden Lab® (heh or Linden Lab™) I’ll look it up and have another post about that later, has raised Havok or is it Havoc that has arrived to Second Life!

Some of you thought that on April 1 there was a huge April Fools joke when the new Havok 4 servers were rolled out with little warning. I sincerely hope it isn’t.

What is Haovk 4? Havok 4 is a physics simulation technology which simulates how our virtual objects will react when placed under circumstances such as being dropped, rolled, thrown, hit, shot etc. Linden’s started testing this in 2007 and in January of 2008 began the beta testing of in an early adopters program of various voluntary sims. I decided to not put DreamScape on that list.

In saying all of this, Havok 4 is supposed to improve performance and make things run smoother. Less huge sim crashes due to physics issues. This is great! I hope it is true. Time will tell.

An annoyance that Indigo and I noticed immediately is that when you are hovering at any altitude, you are unable to maintain that altitude. If you are just hovering there, you slowly begin to sink, if you push up you begin to slowly rise again to a certain point then start to fall again. I’ve noticed too that mountain slopes seem more slippery when trying to climb and there is less traction. Also our hug attachment seems to be more hilarious than endearing, with one of us running in place the entire embrace. So much for the tenderness factor. We’ve also noticed some scripted items had to be taken back into inventory and re-rezzed to work properly. The wildest thing though I will post about and include photos on my next post!

Havock is supposed to wreck havoc on griefing as we know it. Maybe, for a bit anyway, physical griefing will be less, until they find a work-around. They always do, we can bet on that!

Have you noticed any unusual physical behaviors related to the physics of SL?

I think the thing that has me most perplexed about the Havok roll-out is the newest viewer they presented at the same time. Why? It almost feels like a cover up in case all went to hell during the rollout! lol The viewer is awesome with the windlight integration, however, as I have previously predicted, this will do in the people on the testy and insecure connections and mediocre computers for sure! This will make the average experience of SL terrible without a new computer and excellent graphics card. I feel the viewer is far too complicated menu-wise for the noob or non-computer saavy too.

I’ve been looking into fishing for DreamScape for a while now. I am so glad I waited until now to install a system for the islands! What a week it has been! This is the shot in the arm SL has needed for so many months. This will bring back the fun, the community and above all the reason people will want to log back in to SL!

This post comes with a warning!!! You will become totally addicted. The fish are beautifully made, the bait is cheap and it’s easy to do while talking. Your friends are welcome, everyone is, and there are several options of rods. There are fishing contests, and games within games while fishing. There are so many fish your head will be swimming with them, and they are gorgeous! You can take home your pets and winnings, and even get aquariums for your fish to float in your coves, and sit on your coffee table! What more could a game have? Oh I’ve just gotten started!

Not sure if you will like the game (as if you wouldn’t!) just pay 1 L$ and use the demo rod! They will work for 5 castings! You will then want to upgrade, we are sure of it! There are two types of play rods, we already prefer the pro rods but the casual rods will fish almost the same, you just won’t catch the UltraRare and even SuperUltraRare catches!

You can name the fish you catch and wear them to show them off to everyone! This game is full of fish tales! You can even enter your fish into arcade type games! Collect them all if you can, but I assure you, when ever you think you’ve caught the last one, another amazing creature appears! Of course like all fishermen, you are bound to catch an old boot or someone’s bikini bottom! There are also other valuable things for the catching! You can turn salvage which you collect into a prize such as a boat or a game or more! What is lurking in the depths of the waters of DreamScape?

How many rares can you catch, and can you claim the coveted #1 spot? We are going to see with a weekly fishing tournament to see just what you are made of! Trophy to the winner, and cash prizes!

This game has already provided us with hours of fun, and we just set it up! The 7Seas Fishing Game is crazy fun, while catching various wearable pets and other prizes!

We have all rentals full, no land for sale!  100% tenancy!  Hoo0!  I’m very enthusiastic that our rentals seem to be so popular, they rent before I even have time to clean out the place from the renter before!  Amazing!  Thank you all for being great Islanders and making this place the most successful it has ever been!

We love to host parties for anyone on SL. We have great party facilities and fabulous ambiance for all types of parties.

I was asked to host a birthday party for my dear friend 14 Xu from Texas. My friends from my old hang-out at Luna Oaks came over and selected to have it at Blue Indigo Lounge. It was a beautiful surprise masquerade ball. We all began to sweat when the birthday girl showed up an hour and forty five minutes late. I thought you would enjoy some photos of the event!

Please know you are welcome no matter where you live on the grid, to have us host your party (no charge) here on the island! We have trivia and sploders and fun drinks and will put on any kind of music you want! Also if you can guess who I am in the picture, there is proof my bite is worse than my bark!

Indigo and I were invited to the Linden Concierge party this weekend.  The theme was Roman Toga and they will have events and nonstop party throughout day for 24 hours.  Thought you might want to see what we wore.   

The other amusing thing was that they handed out guns at the party.  Guns?  What Roman era is this party supposed to be in?  Oh wait…this is SL!   Indigo and I had our own special guns, shhhhhh!
