Two nights ago right after the always dreaded rolling restarts, we had a sim performance issue. I’m lucky in the fact that so far it seems that the Lindens like DreamScape and always seem to be right on the problem if we ever experience one. I got to meet the oh so funny Leo Linden for this red carpet (I forgot to put it down) visit to our islands.
DreamScape I had a few script issues effecting performance on the sim, and too many scripts on one parcel, as well as too many rotating, color and texture changing and poofing particle scripts in one place it seemed. I wantd to be able to disable the scripts to allow the owners the ability to stop the scripts and alter them without having to return the whole objects that were lagging out the sim.
Leo and I had a couple of lightbulb moments (with Leo those can be very entertaining) which ultimately led to us having to return the objects anyway. We did try to salvage as much as possible, turning them off where we could.
Please remember not to overload your parcel with these types of scripts as it affects the entire sim. Thankfully, everything is back to better than normal!
If you see Leo Linden around, make sure you pull his tail for me! He doesn’t even growl!

Finally all the conversion is complete as you can tell from me sitting on the rental box with a huge headache! Indigo skipped out on me for this project. He’ll pay for that later! hah! Now on to the next project! On DreamScape there is always something needing to be fixed, replaced or changed!
Today I spent half of the day first updating the rental boxes to the new versions then converting each one to a web portal interface. This will allow the rentals to be monitored via a website at any time, whether we are online or not. There are just so many wonderful things about this I can’t begin to even list. First and foremost I won’t have to check all the rental boxes each and every day. I can reset them from the web and change features and options from there as well.I have three rental complexes complete, and expect by the end of tomorrow to have the other two complexes done. It is tedious work, each box has to be configured online. I can’t even imagine what the superlandlords of SL do with 100+ boxes to convert! There is no way to mass convert them.
The system we are working with is the brainchild of Hippo Technologies based in the UK. They have many other very high tech and powerful products to enrich the SL experience. The Hippo system does everything but pay the box for the renter! If only renting and being a landlord in RL would be so easy and fun!

In August 2007 I became the owner of DreamScape I and DreamScape II Islands. I had lived on DS 2 for 8 months before I became the owner. I am learning and loving every moment of ownership here. I have great times with, and enjoy all the people that inhabit our islands here on our space on the Second Life grid. DreamScape I and II are the most beautiful, tropical and serene places you will find. I’ve been told that our dance floors are some of the sweetest romantic spots on Second Life. We like to think our islands the best kept secret on SL!
Our original blog was sufficient but we needed a fresh change with the new year. I hope you enjoy this journey with us as our islands change and reflect our own personalities, and visit our blog often to see how we sculpt our islands.
